Can HIV Cause Anxiety Disorder?

Hi , I have been freaking out for a while now, as I am dating a bisexual mm for 3 years, we just left each other and I have nightmares that I might have HIV, I m really troubled bout it. Hopefully you can help me, well first of all I suffer from an anxiety disorder so I am on seroxat, I started it 4 months ago, I think I have a yeast infection and I have tiny tiny tiny raised bumps that are just skin colored on the top of my hands , they are barely visible to anyone but I m scared it might be HIV?

hi
you have mentioned that you are dating a bisexual person from past 3 years but the HIV status of the person you are dating is not known.

HIV do not cause any anxiety disorder but HIV do cause symptoms of Repeated episodes of fever, weight loss, respiratory infections, diarrhoea, swelling of lymph nodes etc…

if you got any symptom mentioned above then you have to get tested for HIV infection by DNA PCR test.

you have mentioned about the skin lesions on your hands for which you need to take a consultation of near by dermatologist who can examine and give appropriate treatment for the lesion.

hope i have cleared your doubts.

Thank you for query.the symptoms invisible raised bumps are not related to HIV.they are likely to be due to anxiety disorders.also yeast infection details like site symptoms etc is not clear.yeast infection are not always associated with HIV .only severe forms of Yeast infection are associated with HIV. So please continue to drugs prescribed for anxiety.if you desire you can undergo tests to rule out HIV depending on the last exposure status. so that you can be relieved of anxiety. You can get back to me for any clarifications with the photos and details.Dr Bharatesh D Basti Dermatologist and Venereologist
