Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What are the chances of getting hiv or any other disease from public toilet water? I used the restroom (feces, urine, and menstruation blood) all in the toilet from me. The toilet plugged, while trying to unplug it toilet water got in a hangnail on my finger. The toilet was flushed before I used it, but I'm still worried.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern. No HIV or STD should not be contracted through contaminated water or public toilet use. HIV transmission normally occurs through blood or body fluids & human skin act as a barrier. HIV transmission is only theoretically possible only if you have a large wound & the contaminated water touches the wound. Also STDs transmission through contaminated water is also unlikely. So you should need not to worry. However mild bacterial skin infection is possible through this. You should wash your hand & then cut your nails carefully. Maintain hygiene & avoid using public toilets in future.
Don't worry yo would be fine Hope this information helps
