Can Hydrocodone Acetaminophen Cause Risk Of Addiction?

I was prescribed hydrocodone acetaminophen 5/325 for relief of pain in my left foot after experiencing a slight fracture after a fall. I love the way I feel on this and of course it does relieve the pain. I have decided to take just one half a pill(at the suggestion of my doctor) twice a day. Is this still a risk for addiction? I tried tramadol and do not get the relief.......

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Hydrocodone has the risk of addiction since it is narcotic and can be habit-forming. It can relieve pain and is not risky if used for a short time. You can safely use it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
