Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can Hydrogen Peroxide Be Used In The Treatment Of Shingles?
Can you use hydrogen peroxide on shingles and how does it affect it And can MenPhor lotion help to use for shingles? It s been two weeks and seen Doctor and give antibacterics vaccine but now two weeks my dad has a lot of pain. Will the Menphor lotion help. He says he does have itching but more serious hurting pain. Help.
Based on the history he seems to be suffering from post-herpetic neuralgia. It is the most common complication of shingles causing burning pain that typically occurs in the area of the skin where the shingles outbreak first occurred.
I suggest gabapentin or pregablin for the effective treatment of such pain. Hydrogen peroxide is an antiseptic used on the skin to prevent infection of minor cuts, scrapes, and burns.
Whereas Men-phor lotion is commonly used to relieve minor muscle or joint pain. These two medications are not useful in the treatment of post-herpetic neuralgia.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
