Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I exercise 6 times a week (am currently in week 6 of the P90X program) and have always been a relatively active person. I can do the workouts fine, have never felt dizzy or lightheaded, but seem to have a consistently high resting heart rate: 90ish. I feel fine and don't overtly notice the fast rate unless I actually check it. Could I just have a high resting heart rate even though I'm otherwise fit? Oh, 41 year old female here.
Numerous studies have shown that higher resting heart rate is associated with increased risk of cardiovascular events and death in men and women.
High resting heart rate due to response to illness or it may be due to stress or low physical activity or cardiac problem etc.
Regular physical activity, eating green leafy vegetables, weight reduction may use to reduce the resting heart rate. Avoid caffeinated drinks, alcohol and smoking.
Please get it done ECG, thyroid profile or echocardiogram and x-ray chest. Then get treated accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
