Can I Take Citalopram When Suffering From Culminative Stress?

I have been under a lot of cumulative stress lately and suffered a burnout after a period of feeling very down and bursting out with uncontrolled anger which frightened me. I am 68 years old and have never taken anti depressants so I am very nervous. My gp has prescribed 20mg Citalopram and I have only just started. Reading all the reviews on the internet is a bit scary. Wondering if I could start on 10mg for a little while. Already feeling a bit nauseous and chills and a bit 'spacey' and I am very concerned about possible insomnia as I am very tired and low in energy.

Hi
Thanks for using healthcare magic

Sometime, due to stress, patients go into depression. In that case, they need antidepressant. If you are taking citalopram 20 mg and feeling anxiety symptoms with that, then better to take 10mg and then after two week, you can escalate the dose. You can also try relaxation exercise, that would keep you stress free. Rest, you can discuss with your doctor. In case, you need further help, you can ask.

Thanks
