Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can I Take Half Of 0.50 Mg Instead Of 0.25 Mg Of Pramipexole?
I have been taking pramipexole .25 mg and noticed my recent refill was for.50mg. Apparently my doctor made a mistake in ordering the .50 dosage. I noticed the .50 dosage is a small oval purple pill vs a larger oval white pill for the .25 dosage. Is there any problem just taking a half a .50 mg pill?
Pramipexole is a dopamine agonist that is used in the treatment of Parkinson's disease and Restless Legs Syndrome or RLS. Again, half of 0.50 mg is equivalent to 0.25 mg of Pramipexole. So you can take half of 0.50 mg instead of 0.25 mg of Pramipexole. But you should inform your doctor first to ensure either 0.25 or 0.50 mg of Pramipexole is correct dose, as your prescribing doctor has advised to take 0.50 mg instead of 0.25 mg of Pramipexole.
Your doctor may increase the dose of Pramipexole for better outcome. So, before start taking half of 0.50 mg instead of 0.25 mg Pramipexole, you should consult your prescribing doctor first.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
