Can I Take Methylprednisolone For VKH Syndrome?

im a 24 yeard old girl. i was diagnosed with VKH syndrome and am on methylprednisolone(corticosteroids) since a few weeks and will continue to be so for the next few months. my concern is that if i end up taking an emergency contraceptive/morning after pill,will its efficacy be decreased because of the steroids i am on?? please answer my query. thank you.

Yes, methylpredniolone can very well use for the treatment of Vogt–Koyanagi–Harada (VKH) syndrome. Systemic corticosteroids, particularly prednisone are very effective in suppressing the intraocular inflammation of VKH.
As per my knowledge morning after pills contains Levonorgestrel and estradiol. There are documented drug interactions between methylpredniolone and levonorgestrel. Methylpredniolone can decrease the effectiveness of morning after pill. I will advice you to choose another method of contraception after taking the advice from your doctor.
