Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I've been suffering with severe tooth pain for the last two days, I'm awaitingy dentist appointment later today. Ive been taking paracetamol four hourly however these are not touching the pain, Can I take ibuprofen? I take 20mg once daily omperazol for reflux...
As per you complain it seems that you have deep decay in tooth that has led to nerve exposure and it is causing severe pain..
There is also a possibility that there is pus formation below the root tips of the tooth leading to pressure over the nerve endings causing pain..
If tgere is moderate pain you can take Ibuprofen or Naproxen bit if pain is severe stronger painkillers like Tramadol or Ketorolac can relieve pain..
However painkillers provide temporary pain relief and for complete resolution you should get an x ray of tooth done and if tooth can be saved then Root Canal Treatment can permanently relieve but if there is gross decay extraction is advisable..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
