Can Isosorbide And Metoprolol Be Taken Along With Eliquis, Lisinopril, Alprazolam And Amiodarone?

I am currently taking: Eliquis, Lisinopril, Alprazolam and Amiodarone. After my nuclear stress test last week my cardiologist added Isosorb and Metoprol. Several of these drugs show interactions with the others. Should I just assume it is more important to take what I ve been prescribed than worry about interactions? Also, with the Isosorb and Metoprol, can they be taken at night vs. mornings? I take everything else in the morning except the Eliquis...which is twice daily. PS...having a heart cath tomorrow afternoon.

Hello,

Amiodarone has a significant interaction with metoprolol as follows:
1) Amiodarone increases the effect of metoprolol and that is called pharmacodynamic synergism
2) Thus, when Amiodarone is co-administered with Metoprolol, there are chances of severe bradycardia and heart blocks
3) So, monitoring is a must when these drugs are co administered
4) kindly discuss about this significant interaction with your cardiologist once before taking the medication.

Remaining all can be taken as they are and no significant interactions noted with them.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
