Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been taking Levothyroxine 112mcg daily for a year and prior to that for about 10 years at 125mcg daily to treat my hypothyroidism. The doctor thinks this is working great to keep my levels in the normal range. Is this okay to take for a lifetime if needed, or should I try to encourage my doctor to get me off of this medication due to some long term effects even though I am not sure what these might be. I am a very healthy 53 year old male, 6 2 , 220 lbs with no other health concerns. Thanks!
As per your clinical history is concerned, do take Levothyroxine regularly as per your doctor's advice and it should not be stopped at all do check your TSH level every 3 months and adjust its doses. Do take 1 multivitamin capsule regularly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
