Can Lovastatin Or Pravastatin Be A Replacement For Atorvastatin?

Hello Doctor, My online Doctor recommended Atorvastatin to lower my high trygliceride level. I was wondering if Lovastatin or Pravastatin would work just as well as they are a cheaper alternative to me. Right now I do not carry drug coverage?? Oh yes I tried ER Niacin but got stomach upset and had to discontinue.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Yes, you can use an alternative statin (this family of cholesterol medication) to help lower your levels.

It is possible that one of these agents would work for you. You can speak to your doctor about getting a prescription for one of these.

I hope this helps
