Can Melatonin Supplements Be Taken While Suffering From Eye Disorders?

I have had various eye issues (66 years old) including cataracts (repaired successfully), and detached retinas in both eyes (repaired successfully) as well as early stage macular degeneration (right eye) that was stopped 3 years ago with the new eye injections (they worked great). I also have early stages of glaucoma but not issues yet. My question: are there issues with using any over the shelf type of melatonin capsules to assist sleep? I also have minor sleep apnea but don t use CPAP due to inconclusive sleep studies. I thought I read somewhere that melatonin could impact some of my eye issues so I have never used it. I take all the usual eye supplements (lutein, etc) to keep eyes as healthy as possible. Your thoughts?

Hi,

You can take drugs like Zolpidem (Zolfresh) for sleep. It is considered superior to Melatonin.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
