Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
At the end of March of this year I was hopitalized and diagonosed with a severe blood stream infection. I had no idea, but had symptoms of confusion, unstability and shivering. I went directly to the ER and they discover the infection but could not identify how I could of gotten it. After 2 days I was told I was diabetic and put on 500 mg. Metformin. I went to a new Dr. in July and the urine test showed positive for microscopic blood. I have had a CT scan and HUB xray just recently as prescribed by a Urologist. My question is: Can this microscopic bleeding be cause be taking Metformin ?

Can Metformin Cause Blood In Urine?
Hi, Welcome to Healthcare Magic, No.. Metformin doesnt have any thing to do with microscopic Haematuria. Its possibly due to 1. Infection 2. Any renal stones 3. Any bladder issues (cystitis)
