Can Methylprednisolone And Amoxicillin Be Taken Together?

My daughter had her impacted wisdom teeth pulled today. She is taking methylprednisolone and amoxicillin along with OTC motrin. I was wondering what the time span is between taking these two? She will have to take 1 tab of prednisone at breakfast, 1 at lunch, 1 at dinner, and 2 at bedtime tomorrow but will need to take the amox 4 times per day. She was also prescribed hdryocodone but was advised to only take 1/2 pill if needed (which she did this morning after surgery) and could most likely just work with 2 Motrin every 6 hours. Just making sure I can coordinate everything to be affective.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per my clinical experience, Methylprednisolone and Amoxicillin can be taken together.

My suggestions at present
- Gargles of salted lukewarm water 3 times a day.
- It is not mandatory to take 2 Motrin every 6 hourly, if 1 Motrin 6 hourly gives better pain relief as already she is consuming Methylprednisolone as well.
- Continue rest of the medicines as directions by the physician.
