Can Methylprednisolone Be Taken After A Tooth Surgery?

Hi after my tooth surgery, I am taking methylprednisolone which is a 6-day course. My OB doctor said it is okay to take it, but people on the internet say okay or not okay. If I am in the first week of pregnancy, is it really affecting malformation or birth defects?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Well, methylprednisolone can cause certain birth defects like clefts if taken during pregnancy but not confirmed and thoroughly studied..

Long term intake can cause preterm delivery..

So it is better to avoid any medication that can be harmful..

If you had an oral surgery done taking antibiotics like Amoxicillin and acetaminophen can be sufficient..
If there is swelling do cool compresses..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
