Can Minocycline Be Taken For Recurring Boils In Groin?
I HAVE RECURRING BOILS IN MY CROTCH AREA. AND HAVE COME TO FIND THAT EURITHRAMIACIN GIVEN FOR SOMETHING ELSE WILL BRING ON THE BOILS... PROBABLY ECAUS EI WAS GIVEN THE EMACS REPEATEDLY AT ONE POINT. I HAVE DONE WELL WITH CIPRO & WITH CLINDEMIACIN. CAN YOU TELL ME IF MINOCYCLINE IS A GOOD BET?
Recurring boils in the crotch area commonly occur due to bacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and chlamydia trachomatis. Skin irritation may be a cause that allows bacteria to access deeper skin tissues. Changes in your blood glucose level causes the skin to become more susceptible to bacterial and fungal infections.
Wear soft cotton clothes, avoid wearing tight pants and uncomfortable fabric. Take care of your hygiene. Stop using public washrooms and toilets. Since Clindamycin and Cipro works well, you should use it, do not keep changing medicines. Get clinically examined by a dermatologist, get STD tests done to stay on the safer side.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
