Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My sugar is 282 and my novolog sliding scale is for me to take 4 units of novalog and am also supposed to take 7 units of lantus at bedtime is it okay to take both now or do I wait longer to take the lantus...I recently got out of rehab and this is not clear to me
Thanks for asking at Healthcare magic. I read your question and I understand your concern. Normal people pancreas secretes insulin at basal level and also after meal.Hence diabetic patients need both control i.e control of basal as well as after meal blood sugar. Novalog controls after meal so called postprandial blood sugar level while lantus controls basal level. In nutshell you need both to have optimal control of your blood sugar level. Hope it helps best. Don't forget to rate this answer .Take your best care. Regards Dr Ejaz
