Hi,

Birth control pills and Metformin usually keep the hormonal levels and cycles in check with PCOS. And as you may know, PCOS when untreated can cause weight gain with irregular cycles, acne, unwanted hair on face and body.

I understand you have been doing everything to lose weight but when such patients come to my clinic, I would recommend trying to do the same with the help of a physical trainer, diet plan and most importantly by tracking calories. Because number of calories burnt should be more than intake in a day for weight loss. Weight loss of 10% or more is known to show significant improvement in chances of pregnancy, weight loss, etc. with PCOS.

If nothing helps in 1-2 months, I would recommend ultrasound scan pelvis (to monitor the size and number of cysts, size of ovary) and hormonal profile to my patients. If the PCOS is severe based on the test reports and physical examination, surgical drilling of cysts is usually helpful in treating PCOS, especially when trying to conceive.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.

Regards,
