Hello You are taking proton pump inhibitors e.g. pantocid i.e. pantoprazole . Normal dose is 20-40 mg / day once daily in the morning advised for 8 weeks . If symptoms recurs may take for another 8 weeks . Long term high dosage may lead to bacterial over growth in GASTRO-INTESTINAL TRACT . Hepatic impairment ( monitor liver functions regularly , if enzyme increase , discontinue). However , other side effects are common and once should not bother , like dizziness, rash , flu like symptoms and many more . So in my opinion control your dietary habit rather medicine . Avoid fatty , spicy, greasy , oily foods, also avoid alcohol, drinks with caffeine in them . Try raising the head of your bed 4 inches with blocks. It also might help to avoid eating or drinking for 2 hours before you lie down. Hope these measure will help you.
