Can Prednisolone Be Taken To Reduce Blood Sugar Levels?
I m diabetic ,but my bloods up and down all I wanted to ask is..I take insulin in morning 7am..then 7pm at night .I ve not been to well seen by gp yesterday who put me on antibiotics .predicilone for chest infection. I normally only have insulin twice a day.can I take more to reduce my blood sugar ?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Prednisolone is a steroid preparation which will further increase your blood glucose as it has hyperglycemic action. Hence you need to avoid it's intake as you are diabetic. Your blood glucose levels should start coming down once the infection subsides. If it continues to be high even after the infection subsides, you need to seek medical attention promptly. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best. Regards, Dr.Ashakiran.S., MBBS., MD.
