Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a cold and chest congestion and was wondering if I could take Robitussin to help with the phlegm. Looking on this website I see that aspirin interacts with Lopressor which I take as a generic 100mg. I take 81 mg aspirin daily and now this interacts with metoprolol tartrate. Should I see my cardio doctor?
I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concern. Robitussin can be used for chest congestion with phlegm. In fact, can alleviate coughing. You can use for that.
With regards to aspirin, the fact is that recently, it is found that aspirin it can slow down the effect of Metoprolol by opposing its drug effects. Yes, can discuss this with your cardiologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
