Can Tramadol And Lorazepam Be Taken Together?

I m scheduled for an MRI in the morning. I am currently talking Tramadol-PO 50 mg for pain. My doctor has prescribed Lorazepam-PO 0.5 mg for anxiety since I suffer from claustraphobia. Can I take my pain med if I need it tomorrow morning and still be able to take the Lorazepam just before I go for the MRI?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Good day and thank you for posting this question. Using tramadol and lorazepam together increases sedation, and should be used with caution. If I were your doctor I will advice you take the tramadol early in the morning such that the concentration in the body would have reduced considerably before you take the lorazepam for your MRI.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
