I m 30 weeks pregnant and my agie is 36 yrs. M LFT is high & i have been advised Udiliv 150 , Dosage BD by my doctor. Will this medicine be safe for my baby? i have itching on whole of my body..Will u please advise some cream/lotion/oil to avoid that. Will this medicine be safe for my baby?
Udiliv (ursodeoxychlic acid) can be given during pregnancy. It belongs to category B for pregnancy that means it is generally acceptable. The description misses the diagnosis made by your obstetrician. Udiliv is usually given in a condition called cholestasis of pregnancy. Based on your symptoms of pruritus, I would assume that you are suffering from the same. In this condition, Udiliv is indicated and it improves the outcomes in both baby and mother. Udiliv also helps in reducing the itching (pruritus). External application of cream/lotion might not help in this condition. If the itching is severe you can ask your obstetrician for antihistamines. You will be prescribed medications like diphenhydramine or hydroxyzine. Do take the medications as prescribed only. Hope the above information helps you. Thank you very much for writing into healthcaremagic. Have a wonderful day and all the best for your baby.
