Can Verapamil And Citracal Be Taken Together?

Hi. I m on Verapamil 240 mg 1x daily and also take a multivitamim and a calcium supplement w/D every orning as well. The supplement is 630 mgs of calcium. The Verapimil is a calcium channel blocker and I take it for superventricular arthythmia. My Electrocardiologist knows I m on the Citracal... just wondering if it s ok. And would it be illadvisable to take an extra dose of Citracal as I know daily amount of calcium at my age (65) is about 1200 mg.

Hello,
Welcom to Healthcaremagic.com.
I had gone through your question I can understand your concern about the two drugs but there is no such dangerous interaction between two.

. As you said your doc knows about the drugs you take that is why you are not recommended to take more quantity of calcium supplements because at higher doses there are some concerns of interaction between two. Also large quantity of calcium is also present in food too.
So you don't worry about the drug interactions and also need of further quality of calcium.
Hope my answer will help you.

Dr Muzaffar
