Can Zinnat Be Taken In Place Of Ofloxacin For A UTI?

Hi,I got a UTI four days ago and i ve been given Ofloxacin (200mg tablet/twice a day/10 days) and i am on the third day of taking them and i feel worsening, where as last time i have been using Zinnat (500mg tab) and felt good starting from the second day. I have been prescribed Ofloxacin by a different doctor from my personal physician.Since i have already begun taking Ofloxacin I don t know if i am allowed / should be switching to Zinnat that helped me greatly before.I ask to clerify it is allowed since I heared that you are not allowed to stop antibiotic treatment if you started one, so i want to know if i can should switch if i feel great pain.)

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As there is no symptomatic improvement at the 3rd day of Ofloxacin, that means the drug is not effective over the causative organism. So you can switch over the molecule to Zinnat (ideally which should be after consulting your doctor) without any further problems.

Continue to consume plenty of liquids for fast recovery.
