Can Zolpidem Or Ibuprofen Cause False Positive Result For Temazepam And Diazepam?

HI there. I am hoping you can help me with huge concern. I am a 40 y/o female. Hx of GAD and insomnia. I am also an ER nurse. I recently took a UDS for pre-employment. I am prescribed clonopin 0.5mg PRN, Zolpidem 10mg qhs, and Lexapro 20mg daily. However, the drug testing site (which is in CO, I m in TN) called today and stated that I tested positive for Temazepam and Diazepam. Neither of which I take, or have ever taken. I was only a pretty strict diet only drinking Isogenix shakes and taking Isogenix vitamins for women. The Dr at the lab also told me that I could send them a check or money order for $150 to have my urine sent to another lab to be tested. I am currently a wreck! I honestly have not taken these things before, nor have I ever failed a drug test. This could end my career that I love so much. Do you know if my RX medications could cause false positives for these 2 drugs? I do take ibuprofen quite regularly as well.

Hello,

The dip stick tests are not totally reliable. While those do not generally cause false positives, false positives can occur for no clear reason. The more expensive test is more accurate.

Also, it should show the medicines you are on. If none of those show and only ones you don't take, then a lab mix up of urines might be possible. retesting with HAIR samples would prove it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
