Hi.. Can understand your concern.. As per your complain in case of hives caused due to allergic reaction you need to take anti-allergic medications which are antihistamines and Zyrtec(Cetrizine) , Benadryl (diphenhydramine), Claritin (loratadine) are all antihistamines and in case if you are taking a steroid like prednisone which is a steroid and it is also helpful in curtailing allergic inflammation you can take Prednisone along with any of these antihistamines.. Taking any two like benadryl and claritin is not required and only Prednisone and claritin or benadryl taken twice daily can help in relieving.. In case if the symptoms are not reduced injectable steroids and antihistamines can be taken only after consultation with your doctor But I would suggest you to first consult a physician and get clinical evaluation done and after correct diagnosis and proper consultation only you should take medication..
