Hi,

An aortic aneurysm is not very rare in elderly patients. Most of them increase with time through the speed varies. So it is important to do regular follow up. Generally, it increases 1 to 3 mm per year. For an aneurysm less then 5.5 cm in male, no surgery is needed only regular follow up. If size is more then 5.5 cm in male or 5 in females then surgery is done to repair as the risk of rupture becomes high.

Regarding your problem, you just need to follow it annually. Sometimes if the pain is severe surgery may be considered even if less then 5.5 cm.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
