Can A Doctor Prescribe Suboxone And Chlordiazepoxide Together?

Can a doctor prescribe suboxone and chlordiazepoxide together? I was in the emergency room for opiate and alcohol addiction a week ago and this is what they gave me. I am doing great on them and I have been clean for 1 week today from opiate and alcohol. The doctor that prescribed me these in the ER gave me a referral doctor to see but when I contacted that doctor, he said he doesn't treat opiate and alcohol addiction. I need to see a doctor as soon as possible in northwest suburbs Illinois. Please help me with some information.

Hi,

There is no harm in taking Suboxone and chlordiazepoxide together if you adhere to the dosage prescribed by your doctor. If you exceed the dose, then there is a risk of respiratory depression and sedation. Since you have been well for around a week now, it is time to start tapering off the chlordiazepoxide. You can take around a week to ten days to finally stop it. Both medicines should not be tapered off together. In my opinion, start with chlordiazepoxide and by the time you are off it, you might have found a doctor under whose care you can come off Suboxone as well.

Hope this helps you. Best wishes.
