Can A Gastric Ulcer Disrupt Normal Menstrual Cycle?
I recently developed an ulcer and I was shortly after put on acid reduction pills. I had been taking them for about a week or more and it became time for my period to start. I started having all the period symptoms, but no bleeding. Could the ulcer or the medication I m on have something to do with that? I am 14 and have never been sexually active so I highly doubt I m pregnant. Is there any explanation for this that I am unaware of?
Medications for peptic ulcer do not generally cause changes with menstruation. If you are not sexually active then pregnancy is impossible. What remains as a possible cause is anovulatory cycles, which means a cycle when a woman did not produce an egg. These cycles are common in teenage girls and is no source of concern.
I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
