Can A Heart Patient Consume Apple Cider Vinegar On A Daily Basis?
good evening, I have been congestive heart failure. I am on 5 different medications [spironolactone 25mg, furosemide 20mg, digoxin 0.125 mg, carvedilol 25mg & losartan 50mg]. Would ingesting apple cider vinegar on a daily basis cause me a problem? thank you.
A large amount of apple cider vinegar does have the potential for lowering your blood potassium level.
You are taking furosemide and digoxin, which can also lower your potassium levels, while spironolactone and losartan tend to increase your potassium level. So it is hard to say what effect the apple cider vinegar will have. I don't think it will cause any problems but you may want to have your blood checked to make sure your potassium level is within normal limits. If it is, then you should be fine to continue the apple cider vinegar. If you do notice any signs of low potassium such as muscle cramps or weakness, you may want to get your blood check as well.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Aaron Branch,
