Can A Sexually Active Menopausal Woman Be Pregnant If There Is Sudden Stoppage Of Light Periods And If Yes, How To Abort?

Hi, yes, I feel I could be pregnant. I am in menopause and 55 years old. In the past year I have had monthly light periods up until this last April and since being with a man. If I am pregnant I want to take the abortion pill. What is your suggestion?

OBGYN 's  Response
Hi,
Firstly, please get checked by a gynecologist to see if you have really attained menopause and if so, why you have had light periods so long and whether you are pregnant, if at all. Getting an abortion is not an over-the-counter procedure. It is a procedure that needs stringent safety precautions, surveillance of a specialist, proper investigation, appropriate prescription and follow up. Failing these, one can land up with multiple complications like heavy bleeding, infection, incomplete abortion etc. Hope you find this information useful. Take care.
