Can A Strain In The Trapezius Muscle Worsen Due To Wrestling?

HI,My daughter wrestles in the state of hawaii. She went to our primary physician today and has a strained trapezious muscle (Left). Doctor gave here clearance to wrestle tomorrow in a tournament, which, is ok. based on how she feels. My daughter is 14 years old and has a high tolerance to pain. She felt the pain this past weekend at a tournament and I just found out last night after we drilled on the wrestling mat. If she wrestles tomorrow, is there a chance to aggravate it even more or tear, if she wrestles tomorrow. Her primary doctors is closed at this time.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Yes, if she wrestles and the muscle, ligaments or tendons are injured, then this can further aggravate the injury and there would be delayed healing as well.

If there is a long time between this event and any other events that would allow for healing if needed then she may consider competing.
At least 2 to 6 weeks depending on the extent of the injury.

I hope this helps
