Last Tuesday I swallowed a toothpick during dinner. I felt pain inside my throat . I went directly to hospital and had a barium swallow x-ray . Nothing could be seen. The hospital staff sent me home. The day after I phoned my GP and said there s nothing to worry as the acid in the stomach will digest it and and in due time it will pass with the stools . Is it true
barium swallow is normal reveals that it is not stuck anywhere upto stomach, ( i.e., it has passed through the narrowest constriction)
the wooden tooth pick would get digested in nearly pH 1.0 acid of the stomach.
DO NOT BE WORRIED
