Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hi my names ariel im 20 and i've been suffering on and off with acid reflux . but lately i've been getting a tight feeling around my diaphragm and hard to breath at times and sometimes hard to swallow.
GERD can cause breathing problems. But more probable reason of your symptoms is asthma. Please note that this condition very often associates GERD. You may have cough with this issue along with shortness of breath. I suggest you to consult pulmonologist with this issue and have blow test done (spirometry). If its about GERD, if the medicines do not help, you may have great benefit form surgical treatment. There is a surgery done laparoscopically called Nissens fundoplication. It may set you free from GERD symptoms. Please discuss it with your gastrologist.
Hope this will help. Regards.
