Can An HSG Delay Ovulation?

Can an HSG delay ovulation? I am 33, on clomid (100mg) and had an HSG on day 12 of my cycle. I expected to ovulate on day 17 of my cycle but I haven t yet. I m concerned that it may have come really early and I missed it (didn t start testing for ovulation until day 13), hoping that it s just delayed instead.

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

A Hystosalpingogram (HSG) really should not delay ovulation to be honest. Anything is possible, and we see strange things happen in medicine but as a general rule I have never seen an HSG delay ovulation. Many patients that I have seen have had this done without reporting that side effect. I am sorry if that is distressing to you in any way.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. David Girardi, Internal Medicine Specialist
