Can An Infant Be Taking Tylenol For Fever And Cold?

Ihave a question about my 12 month old, he developed a cold about 2 days ago, has had a mild feveer since yesterday. He visited the doctor yesterday and the asvised he take tylenol for babies to reduce the fever. Today his skin appears blotchy. Is this normal or should I take him to the ER?
