Can An Infusion Of Adriamycin And Cytoxan Cause Tightness In The Chest?

I had an infusion of adriamycin and cytoxin a week ago Friday. I have breast cancer. I also got steroids with the infusion. Since yesterday I have tightness in my chest and it requires effort to take a deep breath. It feels like in the muscles, not heart. Could this be a side effect of the drugs? YYYY@YYYY

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I don't think the chest muscles pain may be related to Adriamycin and Cytoxan.

I think you need to get examined by a doctor because you may be having pneumonia or bronchitis due to low immunity induced by chemotherapy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Olgeta Xhufka , General & Family Physician
