Can Any Online Doctor Help Me With The Following Results?
Hello Doctor, My wife is 19 week pregnant and had anamoly ultrasound, one finding which the doctor said many a times and written in the report is "Persistant dilation of renal pelvis(7.3mm),with lift pyelectasis" however the Doctor said there is nothing to worry, please guide what should i do next.
Hello Uttam and welcome, I am Dr Nilajkumar a consultant gynecologist and I will be helping you in your queries. The report does cause a worry to parents as it indicates there is a problem in the babies kidneys. However most of the time it is caused by an obstruction to drainage of the babies urine at the junction of ureter and bladder. It gets relieved by itself after delivery in maximum number of cases and a few may need a surgical correction.
It is difficult to suggest what will be the outcome at this stage but as most of the time it is self correcting hence there is no need to worry. You may also discuss the report with a pediatric sugrgeon at your place for better guidance, but my experience tells me that no one can comment upon this as of now.
So just wait till the delivery and then only a decision can be made.
Hope this was helpful. Feel free to ask any further queries and I will be happy to help. Thanks for using HCM. Have a good day. Dr Nilajkumar Bagde Consultant Obstetrics and Gynecology
