Can Bee Sting Affect Pregnancy?

HI THERE, IM 19 WEEKS PREGNANT AND THINK I MAY HAVE BEEN STUNG BY A BEE. I WAS THROWING THE GARBAGE AWAY WHEN I GOT A SHARP PAIN IN THE PALM OF MY RIGHT HAND. I DID NOT NOTICE ANYTHING AT FIRST BUT REALIZED THERE WAS A BEE SITTING IN THE BOX I WAS BREAKING DOWN. THERE IS NO SWELLING ONLY A SMALL WHITE DOT WITH SOME REDNESS. I HAVE BEEN STUNG YEARS BEFORE WITH NO CONCERNS AND I DO NOT HAVE ANY ALLERGIES. WILL THIS POTENTIAL BEE STUNG AFFECT MY PREGNANCY? SHOULD I CALL MY DOCTOR? THIS HAPPENED TWO HOURS AGO AND I HAVE NO PAIN OR SWELLING IN MY PALM NOW THANKS,JESSY

Hello,
Bee sting as such does not affect the pregnancy. It is the allergic reaction that one should be careful about. You are lucky that you do not have any; just watch the bite area for signs of reaction and infection. Use antiseptic to clean the area thoroughly. Also, inform your consultant about the incident and go for a visit if asked for. In future, wear gloves when you are doing such tasks to avoid similar instances. You may need to use some antihistamine to prevent any possible reaction. Hope this helps.
