Can Being A Regular User Of Steroids Cause Intense Pain, Shivers And Troubles Breathing?
My boyfriend fell after tripping on a log. He is 6ft 2in and 230lb so it is like watching a giant crash to earth. Problem is that he could not get up. He was in too much pain. He takes steroids on a regular basis for other reasons, so I am sure his bones are fragile. When he fell he landed on a landscaping log and bounced. He laid there for several minutes. He is not very flexible due to other issues, but I am really concerned that he cracked a rib or something. (He has broken ribs in the past.) It has been about an hour and he is shivering and cannot warm up. His has hurt all day so I cannot gauge that. He definitely has bruises I am sure. When he finally got up he was having trouble breathing. He is in a recliner now with a couple of blankets. He said he may have to take a shower to warm up. What can I do, or what shouldn't I do. he is too stubborn to go to the ER.

As per your history of trauma there is possibility of rib contusion.
Rib contusion is not always visible on X ray .You may need to do MRI or HRCT to see details of injury
I will advise to consult to orthopaedic surgeon.
Medication like muscle relaxant and analgesic will reduce pain along with it use rib support belt.
You may consult physiotherapist for pain management. He may start TENS, or ultrasound which is helpful in your case.
You may need to take rest for early healing.
Steroids cause weakness of bones and delays healing.
