Can Birth Control Pills Cause Dark Discharge After Periods?

I v been on a birth control pill for about 3 weeks. I started taking them my last period, I was on my period for 5 days and after I stopped my period I was having dark discharge which is normal for me to have about 2 days after I stop my period, well it continued for these past 2 weeks and now I m having spotting like I m about to start my period again and I m not due for another few weeks. I have misses 2 pills because I m terrible at remembering. Why am I still having dark discharge? Do I need to go see my doctor? Do I need to stop the pill? Am I really about to have my period again?

Hi,

Birth control pills can cause dark colored discharges especially on the initial days of usage. Generally, it will settle by itself and in case of persistent symptoms, better to consult a gynecologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
