Can Birth Control Shots Cause Heavier Menstruation In A PCOS Patient?
Hello. I m trying to find the best birth control for me. I am 32 and a smoker and overweight. I am reducing the amount I smoke on a weekly basis and I am also doing very well at losing weight at slimming world. I tried to get the coil inserted however I couldn t relax and it was a failed attempt. I m thinking the injection might be the best thing for me. However. I have PCOS and I m wondering of the injection will make my periods even heavier?
The injection usually don't make periods heavier but it can make periods absent or very rare and lighter. Since you failed on inserting a coil you may try injection Depo shot and it can be successful. It will also help you with PCOS because it will put ovaries at rest.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Wishing you all the best.
Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
