Two brain surgeries for bleeding , was fall caused by a stroke? My brother (65) is in Brazil. We were told that he was sitting in a chair, it broke and he fell, possibly hitting his head. We don t know how long after he fell that he was taken to the hospital. He complained of a severe headache , tingling in left leg (and not sure what else since we are all in the U.S.) A CT scan showed bleeding in the brain and he had a six hour surgery (he takes blood thinners for heart problem which made it even harder to stop the bleeding (this is what we were told). He had to have another surgery two days later because the bleeding started up again. He was put in an induced coma for over a week and since coming out of the induced coma, he is unable to move his left side and is now bedridden. His speech is coming back, but his memory is not good. He believes at time he is back in the states. Although no one mentioned a stroke, we now believe he possibly had a stroke which led to him falling. Could he have had a stroke and the doctors not know it because of delay in getting him to the hospital and the fact that there was so much blood in the brain? We are having a hard time understanding because no one there understand much English.
