Can Blood Pressure Be Controlled Without Medications?
I am 51 yrs. All my life, my bp has been almost consistently 120/80. Recently, during a period of high stress and anxiety it shot up to 140/100. After a few days at that level doctor put me on concor 2.5. Two months later it was consistently dow to 110/75 or 115/80. Last visit he measued 120/70. He reduced dose to 1.25 . Its been a week and now readings are 120/85 to 130/90. Can I expect it to gradually come to normal without meds?

Can Blood Pressure Be Controlled Without Medications?
Hi, When blood pressure increases on a long term basis a new regulation pattern occurs in the body to control that and bring it back to normal. However, over a period of time, there is the need to take medication if the body cannot control it on its own. Therefore, once the doctor has started you on antihypertensive drugs it is not advisable to stop it. However, along with medications, practicing relaxation techniques like yoga and meditation can help you keep the BP within normal limits. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr Riyanka Chail, General & Family Physician
