Can Chest Pain Be Side Effect Of C-section?

2 years ago I had a planned c-section and 5 days later i was in the hospital for chest pain and was diagnosed with non-specific pleurisy (lungs). I am now heading into the 5th day after another c-section and I am having the same chest pain when breathing. Is this likely caused by the surgery (both were spinal anesthesia) or possibly the motrin and oxycodone they gave me for pain?

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Yes, cesarean section can cause chest pain post operatively.
It is mostly musculoskeletal in nature.
During cesarean section retractors are used to get good sight of surgical (operative) field.
Normal duration for cessation section and retractors placement is 1 to 1.5 hours.
During this period intercostal muscles are pulled under retractors.
And once effect of anesthesia is over, they start paining.
So this is common after cesarean section.
Apply warm water pad on affected areas.
Avoid movements causing pain. Avoid bad postures in sleep. Take painkiller and muscle relaxant drug.
Don't worry, you will be alright.
In some cases chest ultrasound and physiotherapy are also needed.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
