Can Chicken Pox Virus Be Transmitted By Physical Touch?

my mother has the shingles virus, my son is only 12 days old and my neice is 5 months old. my mother has held both of them. their skin never touched the rash. can he or she get chicken pox from her holding them. and if so with my 12 day old being exposed what should I do

It is highly contagious.If the children are immunized against chicken pox then nothing may happen.Now you have to wait for early sign and symptoms.If they are affected they will suffer and will be immunized to it for rest of their life.Considering their age they may escape because of natural immunity.Now still there is time,separate the children from your mother.
