Can Cleanse Affect Periods Even If On Pill? Had A Very Dark Discharge

Hi just curious if a cleanse can affect your period timing even if you are on the pill . I am 31 years old and since age 19 have been on the same pill and never been 3 days late. The only change in lifestyle was a cleanse done 2 weeks ago during which time there was discharge/breakthrough, but very very dark so I understand that was my body cleansing my uterus as well.

A cleanse should not affect your menstrual pattern.
However, what you describe was the breakthrough bleeding / slight spotting, which is common while on the pill.
Do not read much into it, unless it occurs frequently, or gets very troublesome.
Minor spotting is common while on the pill.
You can report to a doctor if this persists.
If you are having unprotected sex ( you very well might, while on the pill ) then just take a pregnancy test if your next period is not on time.
Continue taking the pills as usual without a break.
