Hi, i had a colonoscopy yesterday afternoon showing diverticular diseases which we already knew. Everything else was normal and they say I tolerated the procedure well. It took 6 attempts to get the canular in but all else was good. No flu like symptoms before procedure but immediately after coming around I had an irritated right nostril ( i believe oxygen was given by mask and not prongs ) and dopey eyes (to be expected ) by the time I got home my nose was so irritated it was causing me to sneeze alot and I felt a bit off. Took a day time hay fever tablet ( I dont get hayfever ) and it didnt help. My right eye was slightly dopier looking than the left also. Woke through the night, all symptoms were still there but now have a headache bordering on a migrane and right nostril slightly runny. Today I still have all the same symptoms but also pain on the right side of my back about midway and feeling generally unwell. So my question is, can the flu come on this suddenly, from being fine before the procedure, to not directly after or could it be related to the colonoscopy?
Colonoscopy is a day procedure and does not cause flu. Proper care is to be taken with the instruments used for the procedure. Flu has an incubation period and will not cause immediate symptoms.
